Prayer Will Take You There

It was prayer that sent Daniel to the lions den. Sometimes prayer will take you to places you didn't think you would end up. Sometimes when we get serious about prayer, seeking God's face and desperate to hear God's voice all hell can break loose. YES things will work out in the end, probably better than what we thought BUT more often than not things can get a bit chaotic before that happens. Daniel was put in the den, a stone rolled over "so that his situation could not be changed" (Daniel 6:17). Sound familar - life can be like that and can feel like that when we embark upon a whole hearted, fired up journey of praying more.

Generosity Part 1

Drawing from Romans 6 we heard about being righteous;being in right standing with God and the freedom we have in this. No one is more righteous than another and there is no striving to attain righteousness again from God. We then briefly explored the concept of grace and the generous gift God gave in form of his Son, Jesus. It was then asked, "What is our response to this freedom that we have?" A fantastic message!

TOUGH - that's what this series is! Not for the faint hearted OR those who want to cruise through their so called Christian life. We are seriously looking at what it means to be a follower of Christ today and how that measn at times it WILL NOT be easy.

Compelling or Comfortable Pt 6

Phill shared two things that conflict with a Compelling Lifestyle. 1. Comparisons and 2. Competition. A small, unexpected debate arose over whether the word “Veranda” was valid in today’s society! Other suggestions were yelled out to Phill like “porch” and “front steps.” A serious moment turned silly! Despite this, the point was to go outside and yell out to your neighbours, “YOU WIN.” In turn, yell out, “GOD YOU WIN.” Comparisons lead to competition but the Compelling life is about serving. We were presented with the question, ‘What are you doing with what you have got?’
